@AWaveOfBabiez: You're still in school. I'd say take precaution before it's too late. Never use a higher backlight setting than is necessary, and get an eink ereader if you read lots of? digital books. It should help with getting the most mileage out of your eyes. :)

I have been working with computers since 1991, I have still good vision no problem so far, I have never felt? any pain knowing the fact I used to spend 8 hours per day retouching photos on big screens in total darkness. Claiming that Ipad can cause pain is ridiculous.

the nook doesn't have more battery power but has a economical screen in terms of energy. If you use your? eInk reader to listen music or wifi than the batteries will drain in a matter of hours not day. An ipod or Iphone is better than any Eink reader, because it allows you to process text, to read html, to surf the web, to draw or retouch pics.

I love how everyone says using the iPad will mess up your eyes. How many people here work with computers all day? How many then go home and watch TV? Not only that, but there has been very little research into whether using a backlit display? as an e reader would actually damage your eyes, but then most people like talking about things they know nothing about.

Thought i'd be? a buzzkill and let you know he's saying if you do roughly 10 hours of reading every day for 10 days, you will have to charge the ipad every day and with the Nook you don't have to charge it over the entire 10 days. Basically you're getting 'ten times as much from the Nook' because you don't have to charge it over 10 days.

Even though these to objects are completely different things, I'm glad the comparison exists! I think having a lot of apple devices that the iPad is? not superior in reading book long periods of time to the e-book, but since the ebook is designed be ONLY for reading and the iPad by all means is not...either way, thanks :)

I am 12 and I recently (with my OWN money) purchased a kindle e-ink ereader and my intention for this device was everyone elses, get most of the paperback experience, without the hassle of wasting time and effort lugging it around, every where, going to the bookstore to get it, and paying additional money to BUY the book alone, I would not reccomend giving us kids an Ipad if you want them to read your book thatbyou have written, I? would get them a $79 kindle, no distraction =)

Well, wait a minute here. Why should I be sold a product with a Communism book pre-loaded? None of the OTHER books push a political view!? Why do the manufacturers and Chapters/Indigo push such a book onto people? After trying to many readers, E-ink and LCD, I decided on the Kobo. Feature comparison may find the Kobo to be "missing" features. This is misleading. What Kobo does well is? let you read, period. It doesn't "surf" the web nor play songs, that's not what I want an ebook for. Buy your books on the eReader, your phone or computer. Then sync at any wifi point! It's also the lightest device out there and one of the cheapest. If you really want to /read/ get a Kobo.

It's hardly a point of view that Communism is valid. It's a SICK PATHOLOGY that entitles people to KILL infinite numbers of their own citizens trying to achieve that sick system. There's a reason to ban such texts from the Kobo reader and it's a good reason, just like we would ban a text that said, "Kill everybody you see!" 100,000 times. Get a more attractive lady, whom can speak better, has some nice fingers and a nice voice, slim down the reader, make the screen bigger, boost the power output from 1 wat to 1.5 at the least so its a little snappier, last make a contracts with the kindles so? you can actually make some money or at the least apple, that way this tech doesn't go into dark.

I would like to see new comics. Saying it looks fine,? because old comics looked like that doesn't really cut it. Now we often get comics on much better paper and much more vibrant colors. I would like to see something like spawn too, which is full of dark colors, which might make for bad reading if the contrast is bad on Triton. I would like to see some European comics too, like Thorgal, though based on how D&D manual looked I expect it to look pretty good. On camera Triton looks almost B&W...:(

Great video thanks! Have subscribed. The Jet is about the size I am looking for. I only read tech books &, up until now, there has been no suitable reader. I want to be able to read in the sun, I don't want to mess? with zooming & I want to be able to see line diagrams clearly. As it's stylus operated does this mean the Jet has a resistive screen? I don't think I'm totally sold on either devices. The Kyobo is too small & the Jet looks as though it needs better firmware and a faster processor.

It might? have been a more useful review if the screens were compared to LCD/OLED screens as well as the original paper covers of some books. It's impossible to judge whether the jetBook is actually closer to the colors on paper as is mentioned a few times in the review.

Thank? you Michael @ Peter! Any news about a new generation being released of the Jetbook or the Mirasol readers? I really appreciate the developments both companies are making on their respective technologies, but I strongly believe that the Jetbook needs faster loading, crisper colours and a really functional touch screen, whereas Mirasol should go for a bigger format to make the most of its good features (relocating the nonsensical loudspeaker shouldn't be dismissed, but not as important)

The mirasol screen looks much like the screen from Ectaco's Jetbook, and Jetbook mini series, only in color. I have the same impression that grey looks like silver? (just like yellow on the mirasol looks like gold); very similar. I'd prefer jetbook speakers to be sideways, in case you are resting the jetbook on your belly. Good review guys! It must be said that the triton display has days of battery life, while the mirasol provides for hours of battery life (one day tops).

I have just got the new kindle, I was going for the kindle keyboard but after comparing the two decided that the new version would be better for me to hold as I have problems with my hands. I love the fact you can alter the font size? so it's easy to read. The on screen keyboard is easy to get to grips with. The page turn buttons are easy, I can use them with one hand. Thank you for providing such a clear description on the Kobo touch. I'm trying to work out which is the better option Kobo or Kindle. Both have their plus and minus. However the? Kobo with it's access to ePub, compared to the Kindle and it's download only through Amazon, is the deal breaker I think.

Ipad is still not the ideal device for reading, but E-Ink and Ectaco are selling something that is simply not true. TRITON displays? are far from suitable to read color magazines and textbooks with graphics. As I said, it is a very disappointing experience. The screen is even darker than the Kindle second generation. 500 dollars for this is just far too much.

For your information I do have 4 different e-readers and I DO know what I am talking about. TRITON e-displays are crap. My reader I-river? HD has a much better display without the color feature. The color of the Ectaco Jetbook is simply very poor. I HAVE one. And yes, I will buy the new Ipad with higher resolution and full colour.

Colour experience is very poor. Do not expect something spectacular. I bought one and and it is just too much money for what it is. If the? next Ipad improves its resolution considerably, then reading will not be a problem and the experience will be much richer.
